(Sanskrit माया) Originally, "wisdom, art, supernatural power." Later, the term became interpreted as "illusion, deception, appearance." Maya is also used as a name of the Divine Mother.

2. A name of Lakshmi (Mahamaya), the Divine Mother; also the name of the mother of Buddha Shakyamuni
