Homo Nosce Te Ipsum is the Latin way of saying "Know thyself," which comes from the Greek γνῶθι σεαυτόν, transliterated gnōthi seauton. Self-knowledge is the fundamental cause of spiritual and psychological improvement, which is why every genuine spiritual tradition has emphasized knowledge (gnosis, daath, jnana, etc).
