marpa(1012-1097) One of the greatest translators of Tibetan scriptures, Marpa is part of the founding lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Trained by Naropa, he translated the vital Guhyasamaja and Cakrasamvara tantras. He was the instructor of Milarepa.
