Yoga
Yoga
Yoga is a Sanskrit word that means "union." Similar to the Latin "religare," the root of the word "religion." In Tibetan, it is "rnal-'byor" which means "union with the fundamental nature of reality."
The word YOGA comes from the root Yuj which means to join, and in its spiritual sense, it is that process by which the human spirit is brought into near and conscious communion with, or is merged in, the Divine Spirit, according as the nature of the human spirit is held to be separate from (Dvaita, Visishtadvaita) or one with (Advaita) the Divine Spirit. - Swami Sivananda, Kundalini Yoga
All of the seven schools of Yoga are within Gnosis, yet they are in a synthesized and absolutely practical way. There is Tantric Hatha Yoga in the practices of the Maithuna (Sexual Magic). There is practical Raja Yoga in the work with the chakras. There is Gnana / Jnana Yoga in our practices and mental disciplines which we have cultivated in secrecy for millions of years. We have Bhakti Yoga in our prayers and rituals. We have Laya Yoga in our meditation and respiratory exercises. Samadhi exists in our practices with the Maithuna and during our deep meditations. We live the path of Karma Yoga in our upright actions, in our upright thoughts, in our upright feelings, etc. - Samael Aun Weor, The Revolution of Beelzebub (1950)
1: Matrimony, Divorce and Tantrism
The decadence of good customs in countries that boast of being civilized is lamentable. The civil or religious formula of matrimony has been converted into a legal permit in order to fornicate for a few days, after which the couple gets a divorce. So, they marry today and divorce tomorrow. That is all. In this day and age [1963], instead of saying, “Let’s go and sleep together,” the perverse say, “Let us get married.” Thus, this is how, by legalizing lewdness, perverts dissimulate or hide their shame a little. Practically speaking, modern laws have converted matrimony into a new type of prostitution. We know the case of women who have been married 10 or 15 times; many of these ladies are great movie celebrities, or ladies of high society, yet nobody says anything against their ten or fifteen husbands, because when this type of...
2: Tantrism
We can assert that Tantra is the essence of Yoga. There exist three types of Tantra: white, black and grey. Indeed, White Tantra is unique and worthwhile, because neither the orgasm nor the ejaculation of semen exist in it. White Tantra awakens the Kundalini, in other words, the Fire of the Holy Spirit. That fire fortifies the soul; it strengthens it and fills it with terribly divine igneous powers. Sex Yoga states, “Poison must be transformed into medicine.” They understand by poison the lure of women and of spirituous beverages. In alchemical terms, we would say that it is necessary to transform lead into gold. Indeed, Yoga is worthless without Tantra. Yoga is worthless without its sexual essence. Brahmins consider the sexual...
7: The Chakras
The Vowels and the Faculties of the Chakras In ancient times, the seven vowels of Nature: I E O U A M S resounded within the human organism. But, when humanity came out of the “Jinn” lands, rhythm and harmony were lost. Therefore, the human being must be aware of the urgent necessity for the seven vowels of Nature to vibrate once again within the organism; they must resound with intensity within the resonating internal chambers, as well as in each of the plexus or chakras of the Astral Body. Clairvoyance is developed with the vowel I. Clairaudience is awakened with the vowel E. The heart center that develops Inspiration is developed with the vowel O. The pulmonary chakra that allows us to remember past reincarnations is developed with the vowel A. The vowels M and S make all of the internal centers vibrate. These vowels combined with certain consonants integrate the mantras that facilitate the awakening of all the...
Ahimsa; Nonviolence
Ahimsa, nonviolence, is the pure thought of India; ahimsa is indeed inspired by universal love. The word himsa means “to want to kill; to want to harm.” Therefore, ahimsa is the renunciation of all death or harm caused by violence or even such intentions. Ahimsa is the opposite of egotism; it is absolute altruism and love; it is upright action. Mahatma Ghandi made of ahimsa the wand of his political doctrine. Ghandi defined the manifestation of ahimsa in the following manner: “Nonviolence does not consist of renouncing all real struggles against evil. Nonviolence, as I conceive it, establishes a more active campaign against evil than the law of the Talion ["an eye for an eye"], whose nature itself results in the development of perversity. I raise before the immoral a mental opposition, and consequently, a moral one. I try to whet the tyrants sword, not by clashing it against better sharpened steel, but by disappointing his hopes by not offering any physical...
Celibacy
Swami X stated the following in one of his lessons: "Unmarried people can unite spiritually within themselves the natural creative force of the soul by learning the correct method of Meditation and its application to the physical life. Such people do not have to pass through the material experience of matrimony. They can learn to marry their feminine physical impulse with the masculine impulse of their internal soul." If our beloved Gnostic disciples reflect on these words of Swami X, they will reach the conclusion that they are manifestly absurd. This idea of marrying the feminine physical impulse with the masculine impulse of the Internal Soul is one hundred percent false. This type of utopian marriage is impossible because the human being has not yet incarnated the Soul. With whom then is he going to marry his feminine physical impulse? The intellectual animal still does not have a Soul. Whosoever wishes to incarnate Soul, whosoever yearns to be a human with Soul, must have the...
Christic Egyptian Pranayama
Editor's Note: In order to make clear the instructions given below, we have divided the practice of Christic Egyptian Pranayama into two parts: one for men, and one for women. Although originally given as a single practice and followed by a small note for women to invert the technique, this resulted in a great deal of confusion for students. Therefore, in the following text, the practice has been written exactly as required for each sex. Otherwise, this text remains as originally composed.
Dream Yoga: One
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yug, which means "union." So the ancient and universal knowledge of Dream Yoga teaches us how to unite our consciousness with God through dreams, by awakening our consciousness through the study of our dreams. The first step in Dream Yoga is to learn how to be here and now, to learn how to live the philosophy of momentariness, because it is not possible to study our dreams if our consciousness is asleep. Our consciousness has to be attentive in order to study our dreams. To be awake is to be attentive from moment to moment; attentive of oneself. "Oneself" is not the physical body. Oneself is within the physical body. However, we have to observe our physical body. Within the physical body we have different centers through which what we call a "dream" is always acting. Our consciousness is like the light of a flashlight; we must learn how to direct the light inwardly in order to learn about our dreams. What is a dream? A...
Karma 1: Cause and Effect
This course is a basic introduction to fundamental principles of Gnosis. Gnosis is from Greek and means "knowledge," but this is not the knowledge of the intellect: it is the direct knowledge of the consciousness. When one studies true Gnosis, one studies experiential knowledge, as opposed to conceptual knowledge. The Gnosis of the tradition of Samael Aun Weor is directed entirely toward the realization of direct, experiential knowledge, without which there can be no real awakening. Therefore, to understand this course and the others available on this website, one must work to live and practice the principles expressed in the lectures, in order to verify through one's own experience the knowledge (Gnosis) that is being communicated. Without this daily effort in one's own life, this knowledge will remain as nothing more than ephemeral phantoms in the intellect, which can render no service for the betterment of your soul. In order to be able to know, we first have to do. -...
Kundalini
The Yogi who draws his semen up and preserves it, conquers death. - Swami Sivananda, Kundalini Yoga In Oriental Occultism, on the topic of Tantric esotericism, there is a lot of material to investigate, study, and analyze. Throughout Asia, there are numerous schools that agree with the virtue of continence and the non-ejaculation of seminal fluid. Some are partisans of the system of celibacy or brahmacharya; others practice the Maithuna, i.e. restrained sexual connection without attachment, but unfortunately, with orgasm and ejaculation of the precious seminal fluid.
Panchatattva Ritual
In the midst of the incessant crackle of the omnipresent, all-penetrating, all-merciful, cosmic Fohat (power of the Logos), terrifying, indescribable and unspeakable carnal temptations naturally arise in the same way as they did for the great Gnostic Patriarch St. Augustine, who had visions of a delightful, naked woman upon the cross. Thus it is written with characters of glowing fire in the Book of Splendors: “Real knowledge and wise identification with all the infinite possibilities of sex must not mean for the wise a fall into the world of instincts and illusions, rather precisely such familiarization and profound knowledge will lead us to the realization of our Innermost Self.” The Initiate who intelligently seeks the extraordinary power of the eternal and creative principle in sexuality passes from domination of the passive to domination of the active in a well understood action that dominates the sexual energies. This knower is obviously in...
Pranayama
A judicious study of the marvelous esoteric work The Voice of the Silence by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky takes us to the logical conclusion that seven tremendous initiatic gates exist. By all means it is clear that to reach the fifth gate is fundamental, because for the warrior the two superior gates are always open. In various Masonic degrees, they make reference to that symbolic, esoteric ladder that unites the earth with heaven. This is the same ladder that the incarnated Angel Israel (whose profane name was Jacob) saw in his dreams. Many mistakenly believe that the coccygeal chakra (with its four marvelous petals) is the first rung of the holy ladder. Many suppose that the prostatic (uterine) chakra (splendid lotus of six petals) is the second rung of the mystical ladder. There are many who hold the opinion that the umbilical chakra (luminous jewel of ten petals, located in the center of the lumbar region) is the third rung. Many...
The Chakra Muladhara
1. Each one of the chakras located along the spinal medulla awakens as the Kundalini is ascending within the Nadi Chitra. 2. These seven chakras are located along the spinal medulla. 3. When the Kundalini is still enclosed within the Muladhara Chakra, then these seven chakras are just hanging down. 4. However, when Devi Kundalini ascends throughout the Brahmanadi, then the marvelous petals of these chakras turn upward to Brahmarandhra, thus marvelously gleaming with the incomparable sexual fire of Kundalini. 5. Today, in this lesson, we are going to study the Muladhara Chakra. 6. This chakra resides at the very base of the spinal column, and is located between the sexual organs and the anus.
The Fire of Kundalini
This is a transcription of the audio lecture The Fire of Kundalini, which you can download for free. In these times, most spiritually inclined people have heard the word Kundalini. Kundalini is mentioned throughout our lectures and the books of Samael Aun Weor. It is important for all sincere, serious spiritual seekers to have a very strong understanding of what Kundalini is because it is the energy that facilitates all spiritual development. The Kundalini is at the base of all existence. It is the raw foundational energy that the spiritual seeker wants to cultivate, develop, or awaken, depending on which tradition or terms they use. The word Kundalini is most known from the Sanskrit language, yet it is even more ancient than that language; it has roots that go back to Atlantis and beyond. Kundalini refers...
The Forms of Tantra
White Tantra Some esoterists (with tendencies to oriental esotericism) who traveled in the east investigated the Asian continent and arrived at the conclusion that in Tibet as well as in India, Tantra is the only truly practical school. Many ashrams exist in the sacred land of the Vedas. They practice and study Yoga within these ashrams; however, the most serious ashrams are exclusively those where the Tantric teaching is abundant. In the Hindustani markets, studious travelers can find marvelous Tantric books like Kama Kalpa and Kama Sutra. These books are illustrated with splendid photographs related to certain sacred sculptures and bas-reliefs of their temples. [Note: He says elsewhere that these texts and photographs are often adulterated...
The Seven Chakras and Churches
Universal Gnosticism studies our physiology and psychology in detail in order to comprehend the basis of the complete development of the human being. There are seven fundamental transformers of energy vital to our psycho-physical well-being. In the East, they are called "chakras" (wheels or vortices), while in the West they are called "churches" (place of assembly). These seven subtle transformers are intimately related with our psyche and our physical well-being. The seven most important glands of the human organism constitute the seven laboratories controlled by the Law of the Triangle. Each of these glands has an exponent in a chakra of the organism. Each one of the seven chakras is found located in intimate correlation with the seven churches of the spinal medulla. The seven churches of the dorsal spine control the seven chakras of the Grand Sympathetic Nervous System. The seven churches become intensely active with the ascent of the Kundalini along the medullar can...
The Seven Churches (Chakras)
Revelation 1:12-18: And I turned to see the voice that spake with me (one Verb from the Army of the Voice who was talking to the Apostle). And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks. These are the seven chakras of the spinal medulla or the seven churches. And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of Man (the Verb from the Army of the Voice, who was teaching the Apostle) clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. The Word, the Verb, always sounds. And he had in his right hand seven stars (these are the seven Spirits before the Throne, which are in the Macrocosmos, and also these are the seven...
The Sexual Fire
The sexual transmutation of the Ens Seminis into creative energy is made possible when we carefully avoid the abominable spasm, the filthy orgasm of the fornicators. The bi-polarization of this type of cosmic energy in the human organism was analyzed since ancient times in the Initiatic Colleges of Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Greece, Chaldea, Rome, Phoenicia, etc. The ascension of the seminal energy to the brain is performed thanks to a certain pair of nervous cords that, in the form of an eight, splendidly unfold to the right and to the left of the dorsal spine. We now have arrived at the Caduceus of Mercury with its wings of the Spirit that are always opened. This mentioned pair of nervous cords can never be found with the bistoury (scalpel), because they are of a semi-ethereal, semi-physical...
Three Modes of Perception
The basis of this teaching is direct experience. When we discuss Gnosis, we have to put our mind in the correct position in order to properly understand the nature of the lectures that we hear. In other words, what we discuss, what we examine, and what we explore in these lectures about Gnosticism is direct experience, practical experience — not belief, and not simply theory. When we hear the lecture and listen to the topics that are presented, it is important for us to apply it, to experiment. We should not merely take this as something theoretical or merely intellectual, something just for the mind to toy with. To really comprehend and understand what Gnosis is, what Dharma is, it is something we have to work with practically within ourselves, continually. In regard to the nature of the lecture today, it is particularly important to remind ourselves repeatedly that we have to be practical. If this information remains merely as a theory or as something that we contemplate from time to time,...
Tibetan Exercises
The following text is transcribed from oral instructions given by Samael Aun Weor to a student. The transcribed text was initially published in Spanish in the form of a narrative, and included many personal anecdotes and items unrelated to Gnosis. In later years, the extraneous writings were removed and the core materials were presented as a book written by Samael Aun Weor, but it should be noted that he did not actually write the text, although he did continue to teach and practice the exercises described here. As a curious sidenote, the author of the original text became somewhat known for his book, and when he attended a Gnostic retreat years later, Samael Aun Weor asked him to demonstrate the Tibetan exercises in front of all the students. The man...
Types of Spiritual Schools
Evil-minded people with a lack of comprehension mistakenly believe the Gnostic Movement is against schools, religions, orders, spiritual societies and sects. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are not against anyone; we only reveal and indicate where the danger is. We, the Masters of the Conscious Circle of the Solar Humanity, are obliged to speak when necessary and to keep silent when necessary. There are criminal silences; there are infamous words. It is equally wrong to speak when we must keep silent, as it is to keep silent when we must speak. This does not mean, however, that we, the Masters, are against anyone. We do not hate, nor attack anyone; we merely reveal the danger. That is all. There are four types of schools: 1. Schools that teach how to crystallize the soul 2. Schools that teach how to crystallize the soul and to incarnate the Spirit (the Being) 3. Schools that assist as a form of...
