Kabbalah

Kabbalah

The Hebrew word Kabbalah (קַבָּלָה) comes from the word kabel, which means "to receive." Kabbalah is knowledge of the laws that organize and sustain existence. Every religion in the world is derived from divine inspiration, "received" from above, and inform the soul about the laws they must harmonize with in order to rise upwards towads the divine. As such, every religion is a reflection or manifestation of Kabbalah. That is, Kabbalah is not Jewish, it is beyond any single group or tradition. We find Kabbalah in the Aztec tradition, amongst the Chinese, throughout the wisdom of Tantric Buddhism, and hidden in the verses of the Sufi poet Rumi.

All of the populaces of the Earth knew Alchemy and Kabbalah. - Samael Aun Weor, The Kabbalah of the Mayan Mysteries (1977)

The Gnostic Initiate has to study the laws which govern all of these seven cosmos, with the goal of knowing the place that he occupies in life and what he must do in order to achieve the Final Liberation. - Samael Aun Weor, Christmas Message 1964-1965 (aka The Elimination of Satan's Tail/The Dissolution of the I)

Here are some articles about Kabbalah. You may also be interested in our many free courses about Kabbalah, some of which are available as audio lectures.

This is a transcription of the audio lecture Alphabet of Kabbalah Introduction, which you can download for free. In the Gnostic tradition, we seek to examine the practical utilization of all religious, mythological symbols, in order for us to harness the very purpose of those symbols and aid us in our own development towards the perfection of our human soul. In other words, Gnosis relies upon the study of myth and theory to empower practice. This is the entire purpose. We do not study religion or spirituality as a diversion or as entertainment, but because we are tired of pain, we are weary of war, we are tired of being in darkness. The one who approaches the study of Gnosis—even if they call it something else—the one who seeks to experience religion, to know it from their own direct conscious experience, does so because they have lived and...

Friends, we are gathered here again with the purpose of studying the ray of creation. It is urgent, indispensable, and unpostponable to clearly and precisely know the exact place that we occupy within the vivifying ray of creation. First of all, respectable gentlemen, dear ladies, I beseech you very kindly to follow my lecture with infinite patience. I want you to know that there exist seven cosmoses, namely: Protocosmos Ayocosmos Macrocosmos Deuterocosmos Mesocosmos Microcosmos Tritocosmos Unquestionably, the first cosmos is formed by multiple, transcendental, divine, spiritual suns. Much has been spoken about the sacred Absolute Sun, and it is obvious that every solar system is governed by one of these spiritual suns. This means that our planetary system possess its own sacred absolute sun, just like all the other solar systems of the unalterable infinite. The second order of...

Since the year 1962, the 4th of February, between two and three in the afternoon, the Age of Aquarius or the Age of the Water Carrier began. There occurred an event that you might have recorded within your memories.  I am referring to a congress of worlds or planets, which was gathered precisely under the constellation of Aquarius. Truly, this was a heavenly traffic jam.  This was an encounter of worlds. There were two eclipses: one of the Sun, and the other of the Moon. Many years before, we addressed such a cosmic event, and even gave the hour in which it would occur. We judiciously asserted that such a cosmic event was going to take place on the 4th of February, 1962, between two and three in the afternoon (this is a concrete fact that actually occurred). For twenty years we repeated the same facts. So, when the event finally came to pass, when this cosmic phenomena occurred, none of the sisters or brothers of the International Gnostic Movement found this to be something new....

Some Kabbalists emphasize the idea that Binah, the Holy Spirit, is feminine. Such an affirmation is mistaken. It has been said in The Divine Comedy with complete clarity that the Holy Spirit is the husband of the Divine Mother. Therefore, the Holy Spirit unfolds himself into his wife, into the Shakti of the Hindus. This must be known and understood. Some, when they see that the Third Logos is unfolded into the Divine Mother Kundalini, or Shakti, She that has many names, have believed that the Holy Spirit is feminine, and they have been mistaken. The Holy Spirit is masculine, but when He unfolds Himself into She, then the first ineffable Divine Couple is formed, the Creator Elohim, the Kabir, or Great Priest, the Ruach Elohim, that in accordance to Moses, cultivated the waters in the beginning of the world.

This is a transcription of the audio lecture Daath, the Doorway to Knowledge (1), which you can download for free. The doorway to knowledge is what we seek when we enter into a religion, or any kind of spirituality, that doorway of which Jesus spoke in the Gospel: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8 To knock on that doorway, we have to know where it is, and to aid us we have many religions in the world, many mystical teachings throughout all the different groups and ages of humanity. Contained...

The knowledge that we seek to understand is symbolized in the book of Genesis as a tree whose fruit Adam and Eve are forbidden to eat. Now the Lord God took the man, and He placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and to guard it. And the Lord God commanded man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat. But of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat of it, for on the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die." - Genesis 2:15-17 Adam and Eve make the mistake of being tempted by the fruit of the tree of knowledge and from that moment suffering began. If we look at it historically, all of the suffering that we have, the suffering of death, of age, of illness, of pain, emotional pain, spiritual pain, began with that mistake. But we know that every symbol in the Bible and all the great scriptures holds more than one meaning, and in the Gnostic tradition, we go deeper than the literal meaning and penetrate into the other levels...

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil that is symbolized in the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, is a very deep and profound symbol that requires a great deal of patience in order to grasp its real meaning.  This is because this Tree of Knowledge, Daath, relates to the very fiber of our Being.  It is not something that you can grasp simply intellectually or as an idea. Daath is concerned with the fire that animates the atoms in your body.  Daath is concerned with the energy that is within every thought, the energy that drives every emotion. The substance of every sensation that we experience is related to the Tree of Knowledge, Daath. Do not make the mistake of thinking that simply by hearing a few lectures or reading a few books that you will comprehend what Daath means.  The fact is that this mystery of Daath has been explored by saints and prophets for centuries, and its depths still have not been fully explored—because there is so much wisdom, so much to this science of...

Briah is the second manifested World in the Tree of Life, related to Kabbalah. Briah is the World of Creation and Archangels. How are the four manifested worlds of Kabbalah are related to each other? To comprehend how the Ray of Creation works through the four manifested worlds of Kabbalah in the universe, imagine a fountain with lots of steps, overflowing. Each level depends on the level above. All come from the Ain Soph, the Absolute, the Unknown. Briah, the Second manifested World of Kabbalah, the World of Creation, is influenced above by Atziluth, the World of Archetypes, the World of God. To understand Briah, the World of Creation, we have to talk about Daath (Hebrew for knowledge). Gnosis, from Greek, means knowledge, Gnosticism is based in Daath. Daath is the Divine Mystery of God. Father and Mother are eternally united in Daath.

We can find all sorts of books in bookstores about traditional Kabbalah, related to the mysticism of Judaism, but we seldom find books about Initiatic Kabbalah (Gnostic Kabbalah). Initiatic Kabbalah is related to the path of Self-realization, and deals with why we have to awaken consciousness, why we have to enter into Initiation. The term "Self-realization" implies the understanding of a special type of knowledge. Knowledge in Greek = Gnosis. Knowledge in Hebrew = דעת Daath. Genesis is a Gnostic Book that refers to the mysteries of Daath, indicating two trees that were in Eden. The first Tree is Gnosis, Daath, the Tree of Knowledge (of Good and Evil): Alchemy. In the Bible when describing sex between Ad...

Come and see: each of the six days of Creation has its own form and face of the grade that guides it. You will not find a day that has no good in it. That is, it says in them: "And Elohim saw that it was good" (Genesis 1:10). Although "that it is good" was not mentioned on the second day, you will find it on the third day. Therefore, "good" is mentioned twice in it. And God said: Let the waters [of the second day] under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land [Hod] appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters [of the second day] called he Seas [Yesod]: and God saw that it [the second day] was טוב [towb, good].  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in...

You can find many different groups that study Kabbalah. You can go to the bookstore and you will find many books related to Kabbalah, but very seldom will you find the Initiatic Kabbalah, which is always related with the path of the realization of the self. In this kind of Kabbalah we learn why we have to awaken our consciousness, and why we have to enter into initiation. Most of the books of Kabbalah that we find in the world are related with the traditional Jewish Kabbalah. Here, we emphasize the word Gnostic, which means "knowledge." This is a special kind of knowledge, which we will explain. The Two Trees of the Garden In the book of Genesis, in the Bible, there are two trees in the garden of Eden. And out of the ground made יהוה...

The prophets that appear in the Bible are symbols, archetypes. For us, the Gnostics, the names found in the Bible and many sacred books are symbols. We are not stating that these prophets and great masters did not exist—they do exist. But, each one of them came in order to represent and to give the wisdom related to their particular archetype. For instance, Jesus Christ, the Great Master, the most elevated of all the Masters that came to this planet, symbolizes an archetype that we have within, which is our own particular individual Jesus Christ. Buddha is another archetype; Moses is another archetype. When we study all of these masters, we must go deep into our consciousness in order to discover and develop what each one of them taught. As we explained in the previous two lectures, Jacob, the prophet, the...

The ancient symbolism of the Kabbalah serves to reveal the essential structures in any religion or mystical tradition. Through in depth meditation and conscious reflection upon the structures and laws represented in this glyph, one gains insight and deep understanding of our place in life, the universe, and spiritual development. Stated another way, if this symbol and its meanings are merely retained in the intellect and are not made conscious through awakening and conscious application, one will gain nothing. It is only by awakening consciousness and experiencing the truth that we grow and develop as we should. This is accomplished through moment to moment conscious attention and the development of the skill of meditation.

Kabbalah is a systematic overview of how existence functions, on every level, from the microcosmic to the macrocosmic. Through understanding the functioning of the many levels of existence, a person is then prepared to traverse those levels.

Here is the world, empty and round, it goes up and down, glitters and bounces, it dances around the sun, trembles and roars, gives and destroys; now barren, now fertile, this is the world. On its huge old back there is a race both profligate and mad, haughty, cowardly, subtle and wicked, whose members devour one another ceaselessly from the topmost peak to the bottom-most depths of the wicked world. An empty fable is Satan to them, Hell is a matter for mockery and derision, Paradise for derision and mockery. Oh by God! Let me have a good laugh now thinking of what I'm hiding from them! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! There goes the world! - Mefistofele from the opera Mefistofele based on Goethe's Faust. The study of the Kabbalah is the study of the ubiquitous Tree of Life. Present in the mythologies and religious...

Brothers and sisters, we are all here together tonight. Let’s start our lecture. I hope you will be fully attentive. The time has come to study in depth all that is related to man and the universe that surrounds us. It is first of all essential to understand the processes of life and death thoroughly. There are, for sure, in the human being, superlative and extraordinary faculties of cognition which are latent but which could help us to study man and the universe in depth. The internal worlds within each of us are surely what matters. Thoughts and feelings (emotions, desires, aspirations) are invisible. Nobody can see them. All those values make up our inner life. Each man has his own inner life. Each man has his own inner worlds. If a man doesn’t know his own inner world, his intimate life, he will know even less the inner worlds and the intimate life of our planet. And if he doesn’t know the intimate life of our planet, he will not be able to know the inner life of our...

There is a bold hypothesis that suggests the existence of a phantom universe similar to our own: “Only a very weak interaction between these two universes exists, therefore we do not see this other world that is mixed with our own.” Revolutionary, scientific Gnosticism goes much further into this question, emphatically affirming the harmonious coexistence of an infinitude of parallel universes. The radical exclusion of this transcendental, scientific concept would leave a considerable number of unclassified events without a logical explanation, such as mysterious disappearances, etc. On the perfumed and delectable shores of a river, that joyfully and happily sings while gliding within the profound jungles of a tropical region of South America, a group of innocent children watched in horror as their own beloved mother disappeared.  She floated in the air for a few moments, then apparently submerged herself into another dimension. “On a summer day of 1809, Benjamin Bathur...

Parsufim (Partzufim) is a plural Hebrew word that means “faces.” Partzuf is the singular word for face, image, or countenance. Parsufim is plural and refers to the different symbols of the Tree of Life - the way in which we can understand the different triangles and the different aspects of the ten Sephiroth that are the basis of the science of Kabbalah. In Kabbalah, we study five Parsufim, five faces, or five symbols, images, countenances. We are going to talk about these five Parsufim and to see how they are related not only with Judaism and Christianity, but also with other religions. 1: Arik Anpin The first partzuf is related with the first triangle of the Tree of Life - the triangle of Kether, Chokmah, and Binah, which when translated into English...

“And the fifth angel (Samael) sounded, and I saw a star (a fiery sparkling principle of Geburah) descend from (the) heaven (of Geburah) unto the earth (Malkuth, physicality): and to him (the life-force of Geburah) was given the key of (Scorpio, Yesod-Sex) the pit of the abyss.” - Revelation 9:1 The bottomless pit is the unfathomable abyss or chaos that is difficult or impossible to intellectually comprehend. There are three bottomless pits or unfathomable abysses or Chaos: Daath: the primeval Macrocosmic Chaos of the creative sexual force of the Word out of which - Kabbalistically – is explained how the universe is formed. Yesod: The venerable Microcosmic Chaos of sex out of which - Kabbalistically – is explained how the human being is formed. As above so below Klipoth: The inferior (Latin Infernus) Chaos where the devolving Egos dwell; hell. The subjective reasoning within the...
