The Alchemical Mountain

Engraving by Theophilius Schweighart, Speculum sophicum Rhodostauroticum, 1604.

The light of the Consciousness (the flame of the lamp, top center) is born in us when chiseling the stone (sex; bottom center) with sapentia (wisdom; written on the column), thus transforming it into the central pillar or column (the Kundalini in the spine) of our interior temple, accomplished by means of the sun (man) and the moon (woman). Through this immaculately clean (chaste) mystical union (Sexual Alchemy), the initiates are born again of the womb of the Divine Mother (center).

The initiate comes to know his own true spiritual nature that is hidden in the scriptures when the he prays in sincere humility (the initiate on his knees, top center) and offers his hermetically-sealed vessel (the sexual organs) and his incense (transmutated energy) to his Innermost Father (YHVH, upon the top of the tent).

To acheive this the alchemist (lower left panel) must labor: he must come out of his own waters (fornication) and bathe himself (Sexual Magic, the tub behind him) and drink from the small vessel in his hand (Eucharist); thus he transmutes the waters of life that descend from heaven (the rain), which are the energies of the Holy Spirit (the bird floating on the waters).

This work is performed in secret (in the cave, lower right panel) using two vessels, united in harmony, with “gentle heat and much attention.” The scales symbolize perfect psychological equilibrium. This is the great secret of Alchemy: the unification of Yah and Hava, the man and the woman, the Sun and the Moon, whose immaculate conjunction (Leviticus 15:16) gives birth to the Philosophical Stone, the Inner Christ, the savior of mankind (center).

The entire structure of this work is triangular, indicating the Supernal Triangle of the Kabbalah, the Cosmic Christ. The equilibriated expression of the three points is in the center: the creation of the Christ in the Initiate. This is the Mystery of Daath, the hidden sphere of the Kabbalah.

Quote of the Moment

"The pupil expects when meeting a teacher that all obnoxious conditions will be swept away, and that he will be given powers and knowledge of wonderful things, be placed immediately upon the Path towards adeptship, be taught how to produce phenomena and be en rapport with the gods and Mahatmas. He does not realise that he must first shape and chisel his own stone; that he must construct his own foundations and build upwards with his own hands; and that he is not permitted to talk freely about those things he cannot demonstrate."
