(Sanskrit, or Manonmayakosa) One of the five koshas (sheaths or bodies) in Hindu Vedanta and the Upanishads. Corresponds to the astral body; in Hebrew Kabbalah it is called Hod. Some modern Hindu groups refer to this as the "mental body," yet mean the astral body, or kama rupa, the body of desire. For the actual mental body, see vijnanamaya kosha (also called kama manas).
