Hello,

According to the western kabbalah Chamuel(Kamael) is the ruler of Mars and sefira Geburah. Chamuel is one of 7 archangels and he was never descended, fallen.

In most of sources it is mentioned, that Samael and Chamuel are different beings, but they are related.

I feel like Chamuel is primary highess and the ruler of Mars/Geburah. What is your understanding of this?

You'll find in the different Kabbalistic traditions contradictions like this one.
I've seen five or six different Angels corresponding to Mars amongst various traditions. This is normal, especially amongst Western esotericism.
That is why, among the Gnostic tradition, it is urged to directly experience and explore the superior regions of nature (Sephiroth). In this way, the intuitive, practical and experiential Kabbalist can meet "face to face" with the rulers of the Aeons.
The Genie of Mars is Samael. Samael is the ruler of the fifth Ray. Samael is a Logos, Archangel, or Cosmo Creator who incarnated in the last century for a particular cosmic mission.
Chamuel might be an Angel that works according to the Ray of Mars/Samael or maybe not. The only way to know is direct experience.
If you study the works of Eliphas Levi, the father of western esotericism, you'll find that he places Samael as the ruler of the Fifth Ray.
