Kabbalah 1: Klipoth, a Free Online Course

KlipothThis is the first in a series of free online courses designed to give a complete introduction to Kabbalah, the structure of laws that organize all of creation. In the Western traditions, this structure has been symbolized by the Tree of Life. These courses begin with the shadow of the tree, the lowest levels of the dimensions of nature, because this is the level of existence we know and experience on a daily basis. By understanding the world around and within us, we can better understand how to reach the worlds (heavens) above us.

In all religions, the lowest levels of matter are called hell, averno, inferno, avitchi, qliphoth, or other names. In Hebrew, they are called קליפות, which in English can be spelled Qliphoth, kliffoth, klippot, kellipot, Kelipot, Q'lippoth, Qlippoth, etc. This means "the world of the shells." By understanding these levels we can understand the state of our world and our mind today, and thereby the need and method to free ourselves from suffering.

Quote of the Moment

"Where there is desire, there cannot be love, because love and desire are incompatible. It is necessary to know that desire produces illusion. Whosoever desires, believes himself to be in love, feels himself to be in love, could swear he is in love. This is the illusion of desire. How many times have we seen couples who claim that they adore each other? After marriage, the castle of cards falls down and what remains is the sad reality. Thus, those who believed they were truly in love in reality hate each other. Once desire is satisfied, failure is inevitable. Then we only hear complaints and regrets, reproaches and tears. Where was love? What happened to love? It is impossible to love when there is desire."
