| Valentine, Basil |
An alchemical legend whose actual identity has yet to be discovered,
yet is is presumed that he lived in the fifteenth century and was
likely to have been a Benedictine monk. According to tradition, his
name is derived from the Greek basileus, the King, and valens,
powerful, thus meaning the Powerful King, the Philosopher’s Stone. His
legacy is immortalized in his Twelve Keys, a series of highly symbolic drawings. |
