Term Definition
Mahayana

(Sanskrit; Tibetan: tekpa chenpo) Literally, "Great Vehicle." Traditionally, the Mahayana is viewed as the teachings of the second turning of the Wheel of Dharma by the Buddha Shakyamuni, which emphasized sunyata (emptiness), compassion, and universal buddha-nature (the essence). The term Mahayana refers to all religions who emphasize these factors. Mahayana is the "Great Vehicle," the intermediate step between the Shravakayana (Introductory Path) and the Superior or Indestructible Vehicle (Vajrayana, Mantrayana, Tantrayana, etc). Gnosis as taught by Samael Aun Weor is in perfect congruence with Mahayana Buddhism, but since Gnosis goes further and deeper than Mahayana schools, it is a school of the Superior Vehicle (Tantrayana), which contains the complete revelation of the Path of the Bodhisattva and the method to realize the Void or Emptiness.
